The brief
Challenge
Sell an online skills course to a South African audience with limited disposable income and every reason to distrust an online promise. The competition was not other courses — it was the suspicion that the whole category is a scam.
What was done
Approach
Led with income rather than curriculum: what you can earn per set, not how many modules there are. Priced at R997 with a two-payment option because the payment structure matters more than the number in this market. Guarantee tied to a concrete milestone — the first paid set — instead of a vague satisfaction promise.
Decisions
Why it was built this way
01
Income-first framing
The headline is what the buyer earns, because the buyer is not shopping for education. They are shopping for a way to make R150 to R300 a set.
02
Payment structure as the lever
R997, or two payments of R799. The split option removes the real barrier, which is cash flow rather than perceived value.
03
A guarantee you can actually test
Money back if you do not get a first paid set. Specific and falsifiable, which is why it is believed.
04
WhatsApp as the support promise
The fear with any online course is being abandoned after payment. Naming the support channel the buyer already lives in answers that before it is asked.
